Quick Guide to Asian and European Odds

Quick Guide to Asian and European Odds

If you're into sports betting, you've likely seen Asian and European odds. Asian odds (also called Hong Kong odds) show your profit for a 1-unit stake. For example, odds of 0.80 mean you win 0.80 for every 1 you bet. European odds (decimal odds) include your stake in the return. So odds of 1.80 mean you get 1.80 back for every 1 bet, including your original stake. To convert Asian to European, just add 1 to the Asian odds.

Which Should You Use?

Both are useful, but the key is to understand what they represent. Asian odds are popular in the Philippines because they show potential profit directly. European odds are common in international markets and are easier for quick calculations of total return. For example, if you bet PHP 500 at Asian odds of 0.90, you win PHP 450 profit. At European odds of 1.90, you get PHP 950 total (PHP 500 stake + PHP 450 profit).

Always check which odds format your sportsbook uses. Okada uses both, and you can switch between them in your settings. Now you can bet with confidence!
